What to Grow and When in Arizona
Arizona growing calendars begin with local conditions, not a single national date.
Timing changes with frost date, hard-freeze risk, soil temperature, air temperature, elevation band, microclimate, and a garden’s protection capability.

Arizona Today
For roughly 3,000–6,000-foot Arizona conditions, one universal planting date cannot responsibly cover every garden. Cool-season crops and warm-season crops respond differently to cold and heat. Soil and air temperatures can matter as much as a calendar date, while a protected space may have different limits than an exposed bed. Use heat protection and frost protection as conditions require, rather than assuming one approach suits every location.

A calendar structure for verified local guidance
This library will add crop-specific Arizona calendars only after authoritative sources are selected and cited. Until then, use current local Cooperative Extension guidance and keep a garden record of weather, planting, and harvest observations.
